PetVita
PetVita
A pet longevity platform that helps owners understand and extend their pet's healthspan through a personalised quiz, an AI-generated report, and curated supplement recommendations.
Context
I co-founded PetVita with a partner who handles content and veterinary research while I own product, tech, and growth. We started building in 2025 after validating that pet owners want preventative health insight — not just reactive treatment.
The funnel
Landing → Quiz (~15 questions) → Paywall (€0.99) → AI report → Upsell PDF (€9.99) → Email follow-up
The €0.99 entry point is intentional. Low enough that friction is minimal, high enough to filter non-buyers and qualify leads for the upsell.
What I built
- Quiz engine with branching logic in TypeScript — different paths for dogs, cats, and species-specific concerns
- Stripe checkout with two SKUs and webhook handlers for fulfilment
- AI report generation from quiz answers, persisted in Supabase
- Email automation via Resend for receipts, PDF delivery, and post-purchase nurture
- i18n in 5 languages — PT, EN, ES, FR, DE — with route-based locale switching
- Admin dashboard to monitor conversion at each funnel step
Key decisions
Supabase over rolling my own auth + Postgres. Faster to ship, RLS gives me row-level security for free, and the auth I'd otherwise rebuild is solved. Trade-off: vendor coupling. Acceptable now, reversible later.
Paid first step instead of free quiz. I ran the math: an upsell-only funnel doesn't work unless the entry filters intent. €0.99 is a near-zero-friction qualifier, not a revenue line.
i18n from day one. Pet ownership is universal; adding languages later means refactoring every string. Two days upfront vs weeks of retrofit.
Status
Funnel built end-to-end and live in production. A Shopify substore for Portuguese supplement fulfilment is planned at store.petvita.app.
What's next
- Shopify substore integration for physical fulfilment
- Affiliate program for vets and pet content creators
